When starting to design learning experiences, there are two questions I ask:
- Where the learner is at right now
- Where they need to be in order to be proficient or successful.
What’s the learner’s current situation? In other words, where are they at?
What do they actually need to do with the information they are about to learn?
Where do they need to be in order to be successful?
And how could I create an experience where the learner will feel capable at the end of the experience?
I’ve come to understand that starting the creation process with these questions always helps me come up with the big picture and keeps me focused throughout until the end of the project.
